Color TV development goes back to the 1920's and many systems were made, tested and shown in prototype form up to the early 1950's. It wasn't until late 1953 that the "RCA Color Compatible System" was approved by the FCC. It was designed for color broadcasts but would not obsolete the millions of black and white sets still in use, they viewed the same color programming but in black and white. Color TV's would view black and white programs in black and white. RCA also developed and produced the 15", 15GP22 color picture tube that was used in all the 15" color sets made that first year including the RCA's CT-100, Westinghouse H840CK15, etc. Approximately 6000 of these tubes were made but very few exist now and they are seldom available on eBay. Search RCA CT-100 and 15GP22 for much more information.
For sale: Vintage 1954 15GP22, 15" picture tube. Cosmetics are very good overall, Dag is still attached and there's a few cracks in the end cap but it is still hole and well attached. There are no scratches on the face of the tube, great piece for display in a museum which is where it belongs.
This 15GP22 picture tube tests bad. Sencore CR70 results: H-K Shorts - Good, G1 Shorts - Good, Cutoff - Bad, Emissions on all 3 guns - Bad, I do get a blue glow on all 3. This is not unusual, many of these tubes lost their vacuum, hopefully some day they can be rebuilt or replaced by a reproduction for those who want to restore and view them. Search 15GP22 and read all about what went in to developing this picture tube at great cost.
Because this  tube can get damaged in shipping by a hard drop or the buyer can damage it when unpacking it or handling it improperly,
I am selling this  vintage TV picture tube as smashed, shattered,
    not working and
    no  returns for any reason.
It will be extremely well packed and I  will file an insurance claim if it gets a forklift blade run through it, run over by a truck, etc. but if the claim is denied I will not refund any money. I  have never had a claim or a complaint on any picture tubes I have sold to  date.
Picture tube measures 25 3/4” tall, 16" in diameter and weighs about 26 lb. It will measure approximately 40” tall,21” wide, 21” deep and weigh 35 lbs. boxed.
The pictures below are  of the actual vintage TV picture tube I am selling.
Please ask any questions you have before you  bid/buy.
    Pick-up is strongly suggested
however I will gladly pack and ship it.
Don’t want to spend money on packing and shipping? Come get it or send a friend who is passing through or vacationing here. I live in the St. Petersburg area on the west coast of Florida. uShip is always a good alternative too, www.uship.com

All picture tube are packed with at least 2" thick, shock absorbing Styrofoam board all around. The inner panels trap the tube in place so it can not move in transit. Of the dozens of picture tubes I have mailed all around the world, none arrived damaged inside or out.
