This bike started out as a good, solid southwestern bike that needed a good freshening up.
About this bike:
Sympathetic cosmetic resto of a rare competition Maico. This was the first year of the 'modern' Maico look with coffin tank.
This bike has had the following items/work performed;
Complete disassemble with fresh paint on frame, swingarm and all bodywork.
All OEM fiberglass in great shape.
Front forks rebuilt; new seals, oil, fork boots.
OEM Koni shocks restored and in great shape. These would have been a period correct upgrade from the original Girlings.
Nice chromed bars with vintage Tomaselli bar controls.
Vintage 'tall GP' seat.
New chain.
Original pipe in great shape--no dings. Weld-on stinger silencer added.
Original Metzler front tire and GoodYear Eagle MX rear. New inner tubes.
New wheel bearings installed. Brakes checked and cleaned and are in good shape.
All steering head bearings, swingarm pivots, wheel bearings all cleaned/re-greased and like new.
Correct Bing 54 carb, cleaned and ready to run.
All new airbox internals including new foam filter.
New rubber airbox boot intake manifold.
Original chromed rims/spokes were cleaned and are in good shape.
This is a running bike but the top end sounds loose. I'm sure it will need the next overbore piston-rings-cylinder boring performed before you can race this bike.
I have no idea what bore cylinder is currently on.
