So we've all been watching the prices for vintage 500cc 2-strokes going up very quickly. Mid 1980's Honda CR's seem to be leading the charge, with KX500's right behind. Here's another super nice bike, and prices on all my open class, big bore 2-strokes are firm.
THIS BIKE HAS HAD THE FOLLOWING WORK DONE TO IT ALONG WITH ALL NEW PARTS:
Bike started out as an all original '86 500r in good condition with it's original OEM Honda plastics (not reproduction).
Engine was completely disassembled and rebuilt including brand new 'CRANK WORKS' billet rod and crank.
Brand new 1mm over bore top end. Wiseco kit.
Very nice vintage FMF Gold Series Burly pipe had a few small dings removed and was repainted. Almost perfect now. Repacked OEM Honda silencer.
New electronic ignition (RegulatorRectifier.com). Huge spark. Huge compression. Monster Horsepower.
All new crank seals and bearing collars. New external seals as well.
Motor completely resealed (all external & internal crank seals, bearings, etc).
HUGE compression--Motor will need 'new engine' break in procedure before riding or racing.
New Hi-Flite custom seat foam and cover.
New front brake master cylinder. New brakes front & rear.
All new sprockets (Renthal) & chain, chain defense items.
New graphics. Frame cleaned, stripped, inspected (no damage noted), and re-painted correct Honda Red.
Front 43mm Showa forks rebuilt with all new seals & oil. Smooth leak free action.
Showa OEM rear shock rebuilt w/new seal head, oil, & nitrogen charge. Smooth, leak free action.
All shock linkage was rebuilt - cleaned - greased. Showa rear shock was cosmetically cleaned and repainted correct colors.
OEM Keihin carb rebuilt/cleaned. Now has crisp throttle response.
Super nice OEM original Honda bars, Oury grips w/new controls, etc.
Fresh trans/gear oil & antifreeze. Very Nice OEM radiators with OEM plastic guards in place. Fresh anti-freeze.
OEM Honda ORIGINAL MAGNESIUM water pump case & cover was checked and looks very clean inside! Did small amount of JBWeld repair but overall was still in very decent shape. With 35 years of neglect these are usually corroded beyond repair. Best original CR500 magnesium water pump cover & casing that I've ever seen.
New air filter. Airbox in great shape with orig. rear splash guard. Water pump rebuilt with new seals and bushings.
New brakes front & rear. New stainless steel braided brake oil lines.
All plastics are OEM Honda & VERY nice.
NEW Kenda knobby tires & tubes front / rear.
Front rim has a repaired crack. Small ding in rear silencer covered up by that MX-Fox sticker.
Mid '80's CR500's are highly sought after bikes. 1986 was considered by most one of the BEST years for CR 500 of the vintage era. These '85-'86 CR500 bikes were phenomenal, and most would agree that Honda really 'nailed it' with this bike. Power/motor, suspension, handling, appearance---this bike had it all. 2nd year water cooled -- very high horsepower. Front disc and rear drum brakes.
The '86 model considered one of the most beautiful CR's ever built. Sweeping lines, gold anodized rims, etc. Everything really 'meshed' on this bike.
This bike HAS a TITLE
OEM tank, radiator shrouds, front/rear fenders and side panels.
